Beast of the Night: DeAndre Jordan finished with 14 points, 14 rebounds, two steals and four blocks last night. He shot 78 percent (7-9) from the field and shot not free-throw attempts and had no turnovers. This was Jordan’s third straight game with double-digit rebounds. He remains a fantasy stud for owners punting free-throw percentage.
Lines for Discussion:
Chris Kaman: 7-18 FG (39%), 3-4 FT (75%), 17 Pts, 11 Reb, 5 Ast, 1 Blk, 4 TO; since Feb. 13, Kaman is averaging 17.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and a block per game, but is shooting just 40 percent from the field and is averaging 3.6 turnovers per game
Derrick Rose: 11-24 FG (46%), 9-11 FT (82%), 1 three, 32 Pts, 2 Reb, 9 Ast, 3 Stl, 2 Blk, 2 TO; his health should be closely monitored
Brook Lopez: 17-28 FG (61%), 4-5 FT (80%), 38 Pts, 6 Reb, 1 Ast, 2 TO; the poor rebounding will probably persist this season, but Lopez is looking like a must-start center again (continue reading…)

If the 2012 NBA All-Star weekend felt a little emptier than usual, it’s because you didn’t know the results of the 2011-12 NBA Fantasy All-Star voting.
For the uninitiated, this is a tradition that began on this blog last season and continued this season.
Here were the guidelines for voting: “Vote based on whatever you want: straight-up value so far this season, returns based on draft positions, or even subjective love or hatred for players. You get two votes for PG, SG, SF and PF, and one vote for C.”
The people have spoken. Here are the results, along with who I would’ve chosen at each position: (continue reading…)
Daily Fantasy Basketball Recap: 2.24.12
by Jason on Feb.24, 2012, under Quick hits
Beast of the Night: Kevin Durant finished the first half of the season to the tune of 33 points, four rebounds, six assists, three steals, one block and two three-pointers. He shot 55 percent (12-22) from the field, 100 percent (7-7) from the charity stripe and had two turnovers. Durant has been a stud, as expected, so far this season. He’s improved his field-goal percentage, rebounding, assists, steals and blocks from their marks in his 2010-11 campaign.
Lines for Discussion:
Jeremy Lin: 1-11 FG (9%), 6-6 FT (100%), 8 Pts, 6 Reb, 3 Ast, 3 Stl, 8 TO; the All-Star break should do him good, and Lin’s owners should hope coach Mike D’Antoni limits his point guard’s minutes to a sustainable level going forward
Andre Miller: 7-10 FG (70%), 5-6 FT (83%), 1 three, 20 Pts, 1 Reb, 7 Ast, 1 Stl, 2 TO; Miller has been unsteady this month but remains a guy worth having on your bench in most leagues
Serge Ibaka: 5-10 FG (50%), 1-2 FT (50%), 11 Pts, 13 Reb, 3 Blk; he’s averaging 9.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 4.4 blocks in 14 games this month (continue reading…)
Daily Fantasy Basketball Recap: 2.23.12
by Jason on Feb.23, 2012, under Quick hits
Beast of the Night: Chris Paul finished last night with 36 points, one rebound, nine assists, two steals and three three-pointers made. He shot 69 percent (11-16) from the field, 92 percent (11-12) from the charity stripe and had three turnovers. For the season, CP3 has been the third best fantasy basketball player, which is right in line with expectations.
Lines for Discussion:
Kevin Garnett: 8-11 FG (73%), 7-8 FT (88%), 23 Pts, 13 Reb, 1 Ast, 1 Stl, 2 Blk, 4 TO; Garnett is averaging his best numbers of the season this month, and has been putting up top 35 numbers for the season
Chris Kaman: 10-25 FG (40%), 1-1 FT (100%), 21 Pts, 13 Reb, 3 Ast, 1 Stl, 2 Blk, 4 TO; Kaman has averaged 17.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.5 steals and a block in his last six games (sell high)
MarShon Brooks: 10-15 FG (67%), 4 threes, 24 Pts, 5 Reb, 2 Ast, 2 Stl, 1 TO; in his last six games, Brooks is averaging 16.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.8 threes made (continue reading…)
Daily Fantasy Basketball Recap: 2.22.12
by Jason on Feb.22, 2012, under Quick hits
Beast of the Night: Dwyane Wade scored 30 points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out 10 assists, stole three balls and blocked two shots last night. He shot 69 percent (11-16) from the field, 80 percent (8-10) from the free-throw line and had two turnovers. Wade has quietly maintained top five value so far this season, despite dips in his scoring, rebounding and three-point making. He has cut down on his turnovers and had increased his steals and blocks to make up for those declines.
Lines for Discussion:
Trevor Ariza: 8-15 FG (53%), 2-2 FT (100%), 3 threes, 21 Pts, 6 Reb, 5 Ast, 1 Stl, 1 Blk, 2 TO; despite his inconsistency, Ariza has been a top 60 player so far this season
Jarrett Jack: 8-17 FG (47%), 1-2 FT (50%), 2 threes, 19 Pts, 5 Reb, 10 Ast, 2 TO; barring any setbacks with that knee, Jack should be back on track after the All-Star break
Roy Hibbert: 11-17 FG (65%), 8-12 FG (67%), 30 Pts, 13 Reb, 3 Blk, 2 TO; Hibbert is in the midst of a three-game streak of double-doubles (continue reading…)
