Daily Fantasy Basketball Recap: 2.15.12
by Jason on Feb.15, 2012, under Quick hits
Beast of the Night: Nick Young makes an unexpected appearance here thanks to his 35 points, three rebounds, two steals and seven three-pointers last night. He shot 71 percent (12-17) from the field, 100 percent (4-4) from the free-throw line and had one turnover. After starting the season on the bench, Young has managed to give his owners reliable value as a scorer and three-point maker. So far in February, he’s averaging top 25 numbers.
Lines for Discussion:
Jeremy Lin: 9-20 FG (45%), 7-11 FT (64%), 2 threes, 27 Pts, 2 Reb, 11 Ast, 1 Stl, 8 TO; he’s officially the pickup of the year, partly for fantasy reasons, mostly for non-fantasy reasons
Amar’e Stoudemire: 8-22 FG (36%), 5-5 FT (100%), 21 Pts, 9 Reb, 1 Ast; fantasy owners can expect his fantasy value to see a bit of a resurrection thanks to Lin’s command of the point guard spot
Jose Calderon: 11-17 FG (65%), 3 threes, 25 Pts, 7 Reb, 9 Ast, 3 Stl, 1 Blk, 4 TO; he’s on a nice roll right now but will probably hit another rough patch soon enough (continue reading…)
Daily Fantasy Basketball Recap: 2.14.12
by Jason on Feb.14, 2012, under Quick hits
Beast of the Night: LeBron James finished with 35 points, eight boards, three assists and a steal last night. He shot 76 percent (16-21) from the floor, 100 percent (3-3) from the free-throw line and had two turnovers. James has improved his scoring, rebounding, blocking and accuracy from the floor from his marks last season and is the king of fantasy basketball this season.
Lines for Discussion:
Kemba Walker: 6-15 FG (40%), 6-9 FT (67%), 3 threes, 21 Pts, 3 Reb, 5 Ast, 1 TO; D.J. Augustin is set to return for the Bobcats’ next game, so the window to sell high on Walker is nearly shut
Nikola Pekovic: 6-13 FG (46%), 4-6 FT (67%), 16 Pts, 13 Reb, 1 Stl, 1 Blk, 1 TO; in his eight games this month, Pekovic is averaging 16.6 points, 10.5 rebounds, a steal and 0.8 blocks per game, while shooting 62 percent from the field and 72 percent from the free-throw line
Carlos Delfino: 8-12 FG (67%), 3-3 FT (100%), 5 threes, 24 Pts, 1 Reb, 4 Ast, 2 Stl, 3 TO; he’s getting a steady diet of minutes nowadays and has hit 16 threes in his last four games (continue reading…)

Weekend Wonder: Kevin Love came up big this past weekend, averaging 32.0 points, 16.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.5 blocks and a three in two games. He shot 49 percent from the field, 100 percent from the line and averaged 4.0 turnovers in that stretch. For the season, Love is averaging top five numbers, which is exactly where he was pegged by most fantasy owners in this season’s drafts.
Lines for Discussion:
Jeff Teague (2/10): 6-11 FG (55%), 1 three, 13 Pts, 2 Ast, 3 Stl, 1 TO; after a strong start to the season and a hot stretch in January, Teague has looked pedestrian so far in February
Jeremy Lin (2/10): 13-23 FG (57%), 10-13 FT (77%), 2 threes, 38 Pts, 4 Reb, 7 Ast, 2 Stl, 6 TO; since Feb. 4, Lin has put up top 30 averages in leagues that count turnovers; in leagues that don’t count turnovers, Lin has been a top 15 stud
Dirk Nowitzki (2/10): 11-19 FG (58%), 7-10 FT (70%), 4 threes, 33 Pts, 4 Reb, 3 Ast, 1 Stl, 3 Blk, 1 TO; since Feb. 3, Nowitzki’s averaging top 10 numbers (continue reading…)
