New York City is feeLin a little less Linsane this morning, now that the NBA’s Linderella story is heading to Houston. Sorry, had to get that out of my system now that this chapter of the Jeremy Lin saga is closed.

We all saw the writing on the wall well before it became official, but at 11:59 p.m. EDT last night, the New York Knicks declined to match Lin’s ridiculous three-year, $25.1 million deal with the Houston Rockets, officially saving the Knicks from financial ruin in 2014-15 ridding the Knicks of its most exciting player — in exchange for nothing — and potentially setting up Rockets fans for an exciting season of Lin-Omer Asik pick-and-rolls.

I know you didn’t come here to read a fantasy basketball blogger’s take on the matter (not that you can’t tell from the previous sentence), so here’s my projection for Lin’s fantasy value next season: Unless Toney Douglas somehow finds his way again, Lin will be the unquestionable starting point guard in Houston, which bodes well for his fantasy value. On a gutted team devoid of much talent, Lin should have plenty of opportunities to shoot and put up gaudy lines. However, it remains to be seen how well he’ll hold up during an entire season against defenses that are now readier to stop him — the lack of help on his squad probably hurts his fantasy appeal in this regard. Expect solid points and assists from Lin, but also be wary of what’s sure to be an awful lot of turnovers. Spending a sixth- or seventh-round pick on Lin sounds sensible in leagues that count turnovers; in leagues that don’t count turnovers, he shouldn’t fall below the fourth round.
