Chain gang: Bucks, 76ers, Players to target, Tips

by on Sep.15, 2009, under Chain gang

  • Erik discusses the Milwaukee Bucks on Give Me The Rock as part of a series of looks at NBA teams ravaged by “The Four Horsemen.”

“Sifting through its roster is like making a list for an all-late-round-draft team,” Erik writes. “You know a team has a bad roster, when Luke Ridnour – LUKE RIDNOUR! – and Hakim Warrick are the guys that appear to be the most appealing to draft.”

While he expresses caution regarding Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut, he does point out a sleeper on the Bucks roster and mentions three players to keep your eyes on during the beginning of the season.
  • Tommy Beer at Hoopsworld takes a gander at the Philadelphia 76ers.  He points out the obvious allure of Louis Williams at the starting point guard spot this season, but also takes a bit of a leap and expresses confidence in Elton Brand more or less returning to form this year.
  • Evil E at RotoEvil.com gives a preview of RotoEvil’s Draft Guide, which includes a section about “50 Players to Target.” He splits these players up into four categories and offers an in-depth look at Trevor Ariza.
  • Tip #22 was posted yesterday at FourPointPlay, continuing a list of interesting, engaging and helpful tips for fantasy fiends, new or old. Take a look and see what you think.

Chain gang: Rose on Iverson, Top 100, Kobe vs. Durant, Draft Guide

by on Aug.29, 2009, under Chain gang

Chain gang will be periodic updates highlighting some helpful links. These will lead you to other solid fantasy basketball resources, mostly blogs. This is the inaugural edition and hopefully you’ll find each of these helpful as you prepare for the upcoming fantasy season. Cheers!

  • Erik at Points in the Paint has posted a sober perspective on the whole Allen Iverson ordeal, Jalen Rose video included. I agree with his three main points: AI would have better fantasy value in Charlotte than in Memphis, his last season shouldn’t completely obliterate his value in the eyes of fantasy owners and in-depth analysis on his fantasy value this year must be put on hold until he actually lands somewhere. “He is capable of still be an offensive boon to any fantasy team at this stage, plus he should be able to chip-in steals, assists, threes, and FT% to boot,” Erik projects.
  • Craver at Fantasy Basket Blog recently posted the Fantasy Top 100 for the upcoming season according to him and two other colleagues.  Obviously, we have some differences in opinion, but it’s helpful to look at as many rankings as you can as you prepare for your drafts.  In this particular list, Kobe Bryant is ranked ahead of Kevin Durant, which leads us to our next link…
  • Ted Carlson and Cory Elfrink at Hotbox Sports debate who should be picked after the near-unanimous top triumvirate of Chris Paul, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade: Kobe Bryant or Kevin Durant. In our Round 1 draft rankings, we placed Durant ahead of Bryant, but Carlson and Elfrink have a healthy debate going on here. Check it out and tell us what you think.
  • Last but not least, Give Me The Rock is promoting the “Four Fingers of Fantasy – Draft Guide 2009.” It’s a comprehensive draft guide that was generated by some smart men at Give Me The Rock, Barkley’s Mouth, Points in the Paint and Waiting for Next Year. It’s $7.99 and appears to be filled with sexy content. Help them help you.
