Fantasy Trade Analysis: Carmelo Anthony To The Knicks
by Jason on Feb.22, 2011, under Trades

- While ‘Melo will get all the headlines, fantasy owners should know that the name to pay attention to in the aftermath of this deal is Ty Lawson. (Flickr/Keith Allison)
In the slightly tweaked words of Mary J. Blige, no more ‘Melodrama. It should come as a surprise to no one but the blindest Nets fan that Carmelo Anthony has finally landed in Manhattan to play for the New York Knicks. While the deal is awaiting league approval, and though some of these names will probably move again before Thursday’s trade deadline, here’s a quick look at the fantasy impact of this mega deal. To read my full thoughts on the fallout, head on over to DimeMag.com.

Beast of the Night: Kevin Love busted out some magic of his own against the Wizards last night, finishing with 35 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and five three-pointers. He shot 72 percent (13-18) from the field, 100 percent (4-4) from the line and had just one turnover. The man hasn’t blocked a damn shot since Dec. 11, but he still manages to put up top-five averages.
Lines for Discussion:
Rashard Lewis: 8-13 FG (62%), 3 threes, 19 Pts, 5 Reb, 2 Ast, 1 Stl, 4 TO
Darko Milicic: 7-16 FG (44%), 14 Pts, 11 Reb, 2 Ast, 2 Blk, 4 TO (continue reading…)

Beast of the Night: Charlie Villanueva finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 block last night in a surprising blowout victory over the Hawks. He chipped in three three-pointers and shot 59 percent (10-17) from the floor. Villanueva hasn’t started a single game this year, but he’s improved many of his stats from last season’s marks. Still, he remains far from an everyday fantasy stud and lines like this shouldn’t be expected from him that often.
Lines for Discussion:
Amir Johnson: 5-9 FG (56%), 2-4 FT (50%), 12 Pts, 12 Reb, 1 Ast, 2 Stl, 2 Blk, 1 TO
Andrew Bynum: 1-5 FG (20%), 5-8 FT (63%), 7 Pts, 4 Reb, 1 Ast, 2 Blk, 1 TO (continue reading…)

He hit four threes, shot 50 percent (9-18) from the field, 100 percent (4-4) from the line and had five turnovers. Williams remains a fantasy stud that his owners are surely thankful for.

Mo Williams: 11-22 FG (50%), 1-1 FT (100%), 2 threes, 25 Pts, 4 Reb, 5 Ast, 1 Stl, 3 TO (continue reading…)
