Fantasy trade analysis: Terrence Williams to Houston
by Jason on Dec.15, 2010, under Trades
Terrence Williams will be picked up in a lot of leagues this morning, but how much optimism should he deserve? Head over to DimeMag.com to read my take on yesterday’s three-team deal that had the New Jersey Nets send Williams to the Houston Rockets and Joe Smith to the Los Angeles Lakers. In return, the Nets will receive Sasha Vujacic from the Lakers along with a 2011 first-round pick, and a Lottery-protected 2012 first-round pick from the Rockets. The Rockets also sent Jermaine Taylor to the Sacramento Kings for a future second-round pick in order to make room for Williams.

2010-11 Fantasy basketball mock draft w/ Weakside Help: Round 11
by Jason on Aug.11, 2010, under Mock drafts

If you don't recognize this dude, it's time to start learning the name "Mario Chalmers." You'll be seeing him a lot on TV this season. (Keith Allison/Flickr)
The pickings are getting slimmer than than Fatboy — or Shady — or Carlos. (Ouch, 0-for-3.)
I’m already getting teary over the fact that we’re nearing the end of this delightful mocking adventure but there’s still work to be done, so let’s truck on, friends.
Concerning Luol Deng vs. Rashard “the hack” Lewis, it appears that things have nearly evened out. Regardless of the outcome, I’m glad Henry and I will have this trifling scuffle to keep track of throughout the season.
We’re not working with all that much in these parts, but what we have are a bunch of players who, like Henry said in round 10, have shots at making some serious comebacks. The rest of the picks basically force you to choose between the known and the unknown. The risks are certainly mitigated down in the last three rounds, but a steal down here will draw the ire and admiration of your opponents.
For you naughty ones who have to catch up, here are round one, round two, round three, round four, round five, round six, round seven, round eight, round nine and round 10.
Now, onward to the almighty round 11: (continue reading…)

by Jason on Jul.15, 2010, under Rankings

John Wall went No. 1 in this year's draft, but does that mean he'll be the best rookie in fantasy leagues in 2010-11? (NBAE/Getty Images, Ned Dishman)
While projecting the fantasy values of rookies is always more of a crapshoot than a science, it doesn’t hurt to at least begin assessing their circumstances and potential to be valuable pieces that can bolster your fantasy squad.
With about 10 days’ worth of NBA Summer League games in the books, along with other offseason tidbits, it’s time to update our rookie rankings. Also, let us know which of these young players will be the top fantasy rookie by voting in the poll below.
Here is a list of the top 10 fantasy rookies this season (yeah, that means Blake Griffin is included), ranked by their projected draft positions (PDP). (continue reading…)
