Beast of the Night: Rajon Rondo notched 19 points, 5 rebounds, 14 assists, 3 steals and even hit one three-pointer in last night’s last-second victory over the Sixers. He shot 64 percent (9-14) from the field, had three turnovers and played 47:14, a good indication that his health is improved for now. Rondo’s averaging a whopping 14.1 assists per game so far this season, 4.3 more than last season’s 9.8 mark.

Quick hits: Parker plays, Big Baby stays
by Jason on Aug.09, 2009, under Quick hits
-
Tony Parker returned from a sprained right ankle to play in France’s victory over Finland in a qualifying game in the European Championship on Saturday. He finished with three points in the first five minutes of the game. Barring a setback or another big injury, Parker should be ready to go for the San Antonio Spurs’ season opener on Oct. 28 when they host the New Orleans Hornets. Expect another solid year for the French point guard.
- Big Baby Glen Davis is finally set to re-sign with the Boston Celtics for a two-year deal reportedly worth $6.3 million. His value would have some sizable room for improvement were it not for the Celtics’ signing of Rasheed Wallace, who should put a damper on any potential for a significant jump in stats that Davis had. Still, Big Baby proved his worth in last year’s playoffs, and with a team filled with old veterans there is always the possibility of major minutes due to an injury to one of the team’s frontcourt players.
