Beast of the Night: Kevin Durant went bonkers last night, posting 47 points, 18 rebounds, two assists, two steals, two blocks and four three-pointers in an overtime victory over the Timberwolves. He shot 54 percent (15-28) from the field, 93 percent (13-14) from the free-throw line and had two turnovers. This was easily one of the superior fantasy performances of the season so far.

Lines for Discussion:
Roy Hibbert: 2-6 FG (33%), 0-2 FT (0%), 4 Pts, 2 Reb, 2 TO

Chauncey Billups: 9-16 FG (56%), 2-2 FT (100%), 6 threes, 26 Pts, 2 Reb, 3 Ast (continue reading…)

Fantasy Basketball 2010-11 Midseason Report Card

by on Jan.20, 2011, under Quick hits, Rankings

Wilson Chandler

How 'bout that Chandler. (NBA.com)

You’re finally getting used to typing “2011,” trade rumors are alive and all your fantasy teams are foundering (or, maybe that’s just me) — yep, it’s about the midpoint of the NBA regular season. This is a great opportunity to take a look back and forward, all in one post.

Players will be grouped by position and ranked based on their approximate Yahoo! average-based rankings so far this season. The first letter grade after each player’s name will be based on their performance thus far, in addition to how they’ve fallen short of, met or exceeded expectations; and the second grade will be based on their projected value for the second half of the season.

The full post is over at DimeMag.com, but below is an abridged version of the Fantasy Basketball 2010-11 Midseason Report Card: (continue reading…)

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 1.10.11 (Weekend Recap)

by on Jan.10, 2011, under Quick hits

LeBron James

James had two OT games this past weekend. You know what that means. (NBA.com)

[Read the full post at DimeMag.com]

Weekend Wonder: LeBron James played in two overtime games this past weekend and averaged 35 points, 11.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, four steals, 0.5 blocks and two threes. He shot 51 percent from the field, 76 percent from the line and averaged 5.5 turnovers in those games. Slowly but surely, James has regained top-10 status this season and should have an easy time staying there.

Lines for Discussion:
Rashard Lewis (1/7): 5-11 FG (46%), 3-4 FT (75%), 3 threes, 16 Pts, 13 Reb, 6 Ast, 3 Stl, 1 Blk

Wesley Matthews (1/7): 10-18 FG (56%), 9-9 FT (100%), 7 threes, 36 Pts, 5 Reb, 1 Ast, 1 Stl, 1 TO (continue reading…)

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 12.9.10

Andrea Bargnani

Bargnani looked a lot better than this last night. (Bargnani.com)

[Read the full post at DimeMag.com]

Beast of the Night: Andrea Bargnani torched the Knicks with 41 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 2 threes. He shot 67 percent (16-24) from the field, 78 percent (7-9) from the free-throw line and had just one turnover. He continues to score well, but his rebounding and blocks are down from last season’s marks, as are his minutes, curiously enough.

Lines for Discussion:
Carlos Boozer: 2-6 FG (33%), 4 Pts, 3 Reb, 2 Ast, 1 TO

Daniel Gibson: 4-16 FG (25%), 4-4 FT (100%), 2 threes, 14 Pts, 8 Reb, 4 Ast, 2 Stl, 1 Blk, 4 TO (continue reading…)
