Beast of the Night: Paul Pierce finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, one steal, one block and a three-pointer last night against the Spurs. He shot 50 percent (8-16) from the field, 80 percent (4-5) from the charity stripe and had two turnovers. Pierce has exceeded expectations by averaging top-20 numbers throughout the season. He’s a candidate to see some rest at the end of the season, so his owners should keep a watchful eye on that.

Lines for Discussion:
Rajon Rondo: 11-20 FG (55%), 0-2 FT (0%), 22 Pts, 5 Reb, 14 Ast

Glen Davis: 8-12 FG (67%), 16 Pts, 8 Reb, 1 Ast, 1 Stl (continue reading…)

Buy Low, Sell High: 2010-11 Fantasy Basketball Playoff Schedule Preview

by on Feb.18, 2011, under Quick hits

Kevin Love as Scumbag Steve

Love has been a beast this season, but his weak playoff schedule kind of makes him a scumbag.

Fantasy playoffs are right around the corner, with most playoff matchups beginning in Week 21 (3/14) or Week 22 (3/21). This means most fantasy owners who are still in contention for a playoff spot in their leagues should start pondering whether or not they want to swing some deals to bulk up their teams’ schedules during that all-important stretch of the season. In essence, fantasy owners should see this as another way of buying low (on players whose teams have favorable fantasy playoff schedules) and selling high (on players whose teams have weak fantasy playoff schedules).

Below is a quick rundown of how many games each team plays in Weeks 21-25 (Week 25 might be combined with Week 24 in leagues that play to the very end of the NBA regular season). (continue reading…)

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 2.17.11

Kyle Lowry

This pretty much sums up the way Lowry's owners have felt all season -- restrained excitement. They should feel free to let loose after last night. (AP Photo/Steve C. Wilson)

Beast of the Night: Kyle Lowry lit up the Sixers with 36 points, four rebounds, seven assists, one steal and six three-pointers in a losing effort. He shot 83 percent (15-18) from the field, missed his only free-throw attempt and had just one turnover. Lowry continues to hold down his starting gig, staving off Aaron Brooks and his weak attempts at getting his starting gig back. There’s little reason to think Lowry will lose the starting gig anytime soon, and he’s turning out to be one of the bigger waiver-wire steals of the season.

Lines for Discussion:
Ryan Anderson: 4-8 FG (50%), 4-4 FT (100%), 2 threes, 14 Pts, 8 Reb, 1 Ast, 1 Blk, 2 TO

Andrea Bargnani: 15-26 FG (58%), 3-4 FT (75%), 38 Pts, 4 Reb, 3 TO (continue reading…)

Kevin Love

Gotta love Love, especially in epic wallpapers like this. (NBA.com)

[Read the full post at DimeMag.com]

Weekend Wonder: Kevin Love was huge this weekend, averaging 31 points, 17 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.5 threes and 1.5 turnovers in two games.  He shot 55 percent from the field and 81 percent from the line, and notched 43 points and 17 rebounds on Sunday. He’s double-doubled in every game since Nov. 22. Though Love continues to lack steals and blocks, he continues to play like a top 10 player.

Lines for Discussion:
LeBron James (12/17): 14-23 FG (61%), 1-3 FT (33%), 3 threes, 32 Pts, 11 Reb, 10 Ast, 1 Stl, 5 TO

DeMarcus Cousins (12/17): 7-15 FG (47%), 5-8 FT (63%), 19 Pts, 16 Reb, 3 Ast, 1 Stl, 1 Blk, 5 TO (continue reading…)
