LeBron James

James had two OT games this past weekend. You know what that means. (NBA.com)

Weekend Wonder: LeBron James played in two overtime games this past weekend and averaged 35 points, 11.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, four steals, 0.5 blocks and two threes. He shot 51 percent from the field, 76 percent from the line and averaged 5.5 turnovers in those games. Slowly but surely, James has regained top-10 status this season and should have an easy time staying there.

Lines for Discussion:
Rashard Lewis (1/7): 5-11 FG (46%), 3-4 FT (75%), 3 threes, 16 Pts, 13 Reb, 6 Ast, 3 Stl, 1 Blk

Wesley Matthews (1/7): 10-18 FG (56%), 9-9 FT (100%), 7 threes, 36 Pts, 5 Reb, 1 Ast, 1 Stl, 1 TO (continue reading…)

Chris Paul

Despite the brashness he displays here, CP3 has quietly been the top dog in fantasy ball so far this season. (NBA.com)

Beast of the Night: Chris Paul finished with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 14 assists and 2 steals last night in an easy victory over the Nets. He shot 75 percent (6-8) from the floor and had just one turnover. CP3 is putting up stats that make him the top dog in fantasy basketball so far this year and has somehow managed to do so in quiet fashion.

Lines for Discussion:
Joe Johnson: 9-17 FG (53%), 2-2 FT (100%), 3 threes, 23 Pts, 5 Reb, 7 Ast

Carlos Boozer: 11-18 FG (61%), 8-11 FT (73%), 30 Pts, 10 Reb, 7 Ast, 5 TO (continue reading…)

Nick Young

Though he wasn't a part of the mega-deal over the weekend, Young sure has a lot to smile about now. (Flickr/Keith Allison)

The Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards made some big waves over the weekend. The three teams took part in a trade that sent Gilbert Arenas, Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu and Earl Clark to the Magic; Rashard Lewis to the Wizards; and Vince Carter, Mickael Pietrus, Marcin Gortat (along with a 2011 first-round draft pick and cash) to the Suns.

Head on over to DimeMag.com to read my full take on the deal. Here are my quick takes on how this plays out: (continue reading…)

Fantasy Basketball Roundtable: Our most shameful draft picks

Rashard Lewis

A scarlet number for Lewis and his shameful cohorts in this post. (Flickr/Keith Allison)

This week I have the distinct pleasure of hosting the Fantasy Basketball Roundtable. My prediction for this week’s discussion? In the words of the great Clubber Lang, “Pain.”

Since all the respondents are devoted fantasy basketball bloggers and supposed “experts” in this wonderful field of study, I thought it would be nice for our readers to get a glimpse into our amateur moments — to humanize us and make us more relatable, if we weren’t already. Little did I know how afflicted the answers would turn out to be. They read like a series of tear-soaked letters from spurned lovers recounting regrettable romances that have all gone awry and ended in soul-crushing heartbreaks. Without further ado, here is the pointed question I put to our panel of fantasy basketball authorities:

Who has turned out to be your most shameful draft pick?

Get those handkerchiefs ready. Here are the dismal responses, with the shameful players’ names in red: (continue reading…)

[Read the full post at DimeMag.com]

Beast of the Night: Deron Williams put up 31 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists, 1 steal and 4 threes against the Thunder last night.  He shot 67 percent (12-18) from the field and 100 percent (3-3) from the charity stripe. Williams is back on track after a slow start and has upped his scoring, threes made and rebounding so far this season.

Lines for Discussion:
Rashard Lewis: 3-13 FG (23%), 2-2 FT (100%), 1 three, 9 Pts, 6 Reb, 4 Ast, 1 Stl, 1 Blk, 2 TO

Michael Beasley: 12-25 FG (48%), 1-3 FT (33%), 3 threes, 28 Pts, 5 Reb, 2 Ast, 2 Blk, 2 TO (continue reading…)
