Kevin Love as Scumbag Steve

Love has been a beast this season, but his weak playoff schedule kind of makes him a scumbag.

Fantasy playoffs are right around the corner, with most playoff matchups beginning in Week 21 (3/14) or Week 22 (3/21). This means most fantasy owners who are still in contention for a playoff spot in their leagues should start pondering whether or not they want to swing some deals to bulk up their teams’ schedules during that all-important stretch of the season. In essence, fantasy owners should see this as another way of buying low (on players whose teams have favorable fantasy playoff schedules) and selling high (on players whose teams have weak fantasy playoff schedules).

Below is a quick rundown of how many games each team plays in Weeks 21-25 (Week 25 might be combined with Week 24 in leagues that play to the very end of the NBA regular season). (continue reading…)

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 2.8.11

Carmelo Anthony

'Melo rose above the drama last night. Yep, I actually used "'Melo" and "drama" in the same sentence without combining them. You're welcome. (NBA.com)

[Read the full post at DimeMag.com]

Beast of the Night: Carmelo Anthony torched the Rockets with 50 points, 11 rebounds, a steal, three blocks and two three-pointers.  He shot 67 percent (16-24) from the field, 89 percent (16-18) from the free-throw line and had four turnovers in the loss. Anthony continues to be swarmed by drama but remains a solid fantasy player, despite the horrid assists-to-turnovers ratio so far this month (0.8 assists, 3.5 turnovers per game).

Lines for Discussion:
Ray Allen: 9-17 FG (53%), 5-5 FT (100%), 2 threes, 25 Pts, 2 Reb, 3 Ast, 2 Stl, 3 TO

Gerald Wallace: 6-16 FG (38%), 6-8 FT (75%), 1 three, 19 Pts, 16 Reb, 2 Ast, 1 Stl, 1 Blk, 2 TO (continue reading…)

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 12.9.10

Andrea Bargnani

Beast of the Night: Andrea Bargnani torched the Knicks with 41 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 2 threes. He shot 67 percent (16-24) from the field, 78 percent (7-9) from the free-throw line and had just one turnover. He continues to score well, but his rebounding and blocks are down from last season’s marks, as are his minutes, curiously enough.

Lines for Discussion:
Carlos Boozer: 2-6 FG (33%), 4 Pts, 3 Reb, 2 Ast, 1 TO

Daniel Gibson: 4-16 FG (25%), 4-4 FT (100%), 2 threes, 14 Pts, 8 Reb, 4 Ast, 2 Stl, 1 Blk, 4 TO (continue reading…)

Beast of the Night: Luol Deng put up 26 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks and hit 2 threes in a blowout victory over the Warriors last night. He shot 47 percent (9-19) from the field, 86 percent (6-7) from the free-throw line and had no turnovers. Deng remains a good sell-high candidate before Carlos Boozer returns later this month.

Lines for Discussion:
Ray Allen: 13-23 FG (57%), 2-2 FT (100%), 7 threes, 35 Pts, 1 Reb, 2 TO

Dwyane Wade: 2-12 FG (17%), 4-6 FT (67%), 8 Pts, 1 Reb, 3 Ast, 1 Blk, 6 TO (continue reading…)
